My Real Madrid Match History

I’ve been attending Real Madrid matches since 2015. What started with my first game at the Santiago Bernabéu has grown into dozens of matches in Madrid and across Europe. Over the years, I’ve not only experienced many different games, but also learned what goes into planning a trip to watch Real Madrid.

From my first match to European away games and unforgettable nights at the Bernabéu, below I’ve highlighted three matches that hold a special place in my memory.

My First Match — Real Madrid vs. Las Palmas

My first Real Madrid match was one I’ll never forget. In October 2015, I visited the Santiago Bernabéu for the first time to watch Real Madrid take on Las Palmas. It was my first experience of the stadium and the atmosphere surrounding a Real Madrid match.

Real Madrid eventually won 3–1, and that night really marked the beginning of my journey as a regular visitor to Real Madrid matches. Since then, I’ve kept coming back more and more, with attending matches becoming an increasingly important part of my passion for the club.

My Favourite Match — Manchester City vs. Real Madrid

If I had to choose the best match I’ve ever attended, this would be it. The second leg against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals was a night full of tension. After 120 minutes in Manchester, the tie ultimately had to be decided by a penalty shootout.

From the away section, I experienced one of the most intense matches I’ve ever witnessed as a Real Madrid fan. The celebrations after the decisive penalty were incredible.

My Favourite Bernabéu Night — Real Madrid vs. Union Berlin

Some matches are about more than just the final score. The Champions League game against Union Berlin is the perfect example for me. It was a night when the Santiago Bernabéu was at its best: Champions League football, an incredible atmosphere and a match that was decided in the final seconds.

In the very last minute, Jude Bellingham scored the winning goal to make it 1–0, sending the entire stadium into absolute chaos. For me, that moment is perhaps the best Bernabéu experience I’ve had so far — another unforgettable chapter on the road to the 15th Champions League title.
