How to Buy Real Madrid Tickets: My Experiences and Tips

Getting Real Madrid tickets is often the hardest part of planning a trip to Madrid. Hotels and flights can be booked months in advance, but the official ticket sale for home matches usually only starts around a week and a half before the game. That makes good preparation essential.

Keep in mind that the final date and kick-off time of a match are often only confirmed by La Liga a few weeks in advance. In most cases, Real Madrid play on Saturday or Sunday, but every season there are also a few matches scheduled on Friday or Monday. Whenever possible, I recommend booking your flight and hotel with enough flexibility.

On this page, I share my own experiences of buying Real Madrid tickets. I’ve listed the different options below, so you can decide which one best suits your preferences and budget.

Tickets via the Official Real Madrid Website

My preference is always to buy tickets through the official Real Madrid website. You pay the normal ticket price, receive your ticket directly from the club and know that everything is officially arranged.

There are, however, two important disadvantages. Regular ticket sales usually only start around ten days before the match, and demand for tickets is often higher than the available supply. Especially for bigger matches, tickets can sell out within just a few minutes.

Madridista Premium

One way to increase your chances is to purchase a Madridista Premium membership. It costs around €40 per season and gives you, among other benefits, access to the ticket sale one day earlier than regular supporters.

Even then, success is not guaranteed. Demand for tickets is often still higher than the available supply.

Last-Minute Availability

What many supporters don’t know is that additional tickets often become available again in the final days before a match. In my experience, extra tickets regularly appear from around two days before kick-off. These are often tickets that socios have returned to the club or tickets that were not used by travel organisations.

Have nerves of steel and some flexibility? Then it can definitely be worth checking the official website regularly during the final days before the match.

My Personal Ticket Strategy

Over the past few years, I’ve bought Real Madrid tickets through the official website dozens of times. As a result, I’ve developed a strategy that has worked very well for me time and time again.

That’s why I’ve put my personal approach into a practical ticket guide. In it, I explain step by step how I approach the official ticket sale and how I try to maximise my chances of getting good seats within the club’s complex ticketing system.

The guide currently costs €9.99. A small amount that gives you access to my personal strategy while also helping me continue developing this website. Would you like to use my approach for your next ticket attempt? Send me a message via Instagram or X.

VIP Tickets via the Official Real Madrid Website

The only way to have certainty of getting a ticket through the official Real Madrid website months in advance is to choose a VIP package.

These tickets are available well in advance, with prices generally starting at around €275 per person. In addition to a good seat, you’ll also get extra facilities such as food and drinks around the match.

If you want to make your visit to Madrid a truly special experience, a VIP ticket is certainly worth considering.

Football Travel Websites

Another option is to arrange your Real Madrid trip through a football travel company. The biggest advantage is that you can often book your trip, including the match ticket, months in advance. This gives you much more certainty when planning your flight and hotel.

There are several companies offering football trips to the Santiago Bernabéu. A simple Google search will quickly give you several options.

The downside is that this certainty and convenience come at a higher price. Real Madrid tickets are already expensive, and travel companies often charge an additional margin for their service. On the other hand, many things are arranged for you, meaning you don’t have to figure everything out yourself.

Conclusion

Hopefully, this page has given you a better understanding of the different ways to buy Real Madrid tickets. Which option is best for you depends on your budget, flexibility and the match you want to attend.

My advice would always be to try the official sale yourself first. If that doesn’t work for whatever reason, you can always turn to a football travel website or resale platform afterwards. At least you’ll have given yourself a chance to get your ticket at the best possible price.

Are you mainly looking for certainty well in advance and have a larger budget? Then I’d look directly at football travel websites or VIP tickets.
